Career Plus places Career Coordinators in area high schools to directly assist students link with employment, post-secondary opportunities, and career pathways. Career Plus offers supportive services including referrals to tutoring, paid work experience, social-emotional learning opportunities, financial literacy, and career exploration experiences.
Career Coordinators assist all interested students in their assigned schools with their job search, resume writing, and referrals to employment opportunities. For 11th and 12th graders who enroll as participants in the program, comprehensive guidance and counseling are provided. Enrolled participants are assisted in developing an Individualized Service Strategy (ISS), a plan describing career objectives, detailing a career pathway, and documenting work experience activities.
Career Plus emphasizes careers in quality, high-wage occupations including Information Technology and the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. The approach creates the bridge many students need between work experience, high school course work, and apprenticeship to the end goals of post-secondary education and/or employment.
Current participating high schools are North Division, South Division, Barack Obama and Bradley Tech.
