2023 Annual Fundraiser: Remember the Past, Building the Present, Impacting the Future

It will take One Milwaukee coming together to create a stronger, more prosperous community for all of us. Gathering as a community in celebration of our success inspires us for the work ahead. Join us as we celebrate our successes and plan for our next steps in growth. Your support at this event helps to ensure that our community’s immediate workforce needs continue to be met through EMI’s various services: certificate programs, apprenticeships, job-readiness training, support for re-entry employment needs, career guidance for youth, partnerships with employers and job training programs. As we embark on the 2023 benefit luncheon, we asked that you would consider participating as a partner in this effort to make a difference. Your partnership will allow us to innately transform alongside the community’s ever-changing workforce needs. Together, we are able to change the trajectory for those who need it the most.

Fundraiser 2023 Speaker: Judge Mablean Ephriam

For over twenty years, Judge Mablean has brought a wealth of legal and sensible knowledge to television courtrooms. Dispensing her now familiar brand of justice with her no-nonsense, straight talk and sense of humor, Judge Mablean currently serves as the Presiding Judge on her self-titled television show, JUSTICE WITH JUDGE MABLEAN. In its 8th season, the show is produced by Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios (ES).

Judge Mablean began her television career as the ceiling breaking judge of Fox TV's "Divorce Court" in 1999, presiding for seven seasons. During this time she also gained notoriety for her roles in Tyler Perry's "Diary of a Mad Black Woman", "Madea's Family Reunion" and "Madea Goes to Jail". After Divorce Court, she was able to focus her efforts on her non-profit that she founded, MABLEAN EPHRIAM FOUNDATION, whose mission is to strengthen families, educate young minds, and financially empower the residents of the impoverished communities of Los Angeles County. MEF mentors students at several schools in Los Angeles, that include her alma mater, Thomas Jefferson High School. The Foundation provides both academics and cultural enrichment programs and offers college scholarships to graduating senior in the communities served. MEF continues its college scholarships for students up to four years.

In addition, she presents her signature award show, honoring and paying tribute to fathers from the same communities, known as Honoring Unsung Fathers (HUF). The event has been held each year since 2004 on Father's Day, featuring a brunch, the best in entertainment and awards presented by celebrity guests.

Judge Mablean began her law career in 1978. She served as a prosecuting attorney for the City of Los Angeles and in her own private practice focusing on family law and criminal defense.

Judge Mablean has traveled extensively as a much sought after public speaker. She uses her voice to serve the community at large. She has written and published two books, "Judge Mablean's Life Lessons: 52 Tools for Weekly Living" and "Look Deep Before You Leap: Heed the Red Flag Warnings to Avoid Unhealthy Relationships".  Both books are available on her website Judgemablean.com and on Amazon.com.

Judge Mablean attributes her success to God, her parents, family and close friends. Religion and trust in God keeps this mother of four, grandmother of ten, great-grandmother of one and Auntie to many, meek and humble.

A Glimpse from the Past: 2022 Annual Fundraiser

We are immensely proud and appreciative of the enormous success afforded us here at Employ Milwaukee during our first Fundraiser on October 13, 2022. The Luncheon was a highlight for all of us. The spotlight was on, and we were joined by our generous sponsors, special guest speaker, partners, community members, and staff to celebrate this year’s successes, hear from influential changemakers, and gain new ideas on how to move forward with our collective mission of making Milwaukee a better place to live and work. Our speaker, the notable Billye Suber Aaron, compelled us as she gave a moving message about knowing your purpose.

We want to give a special thanks to our Change Agent Green and Impact Blue sponsors for their generous donations. Without the immense support of these organizations, we could not do the impactful life changing work we do at Employ Milwaukee. Thank you for your dedication to changing the paradigm of life for our community members.
