MEND's program training strategy builds upon traditional educational certificate/degrees attainment and combines it with work-based learning models such as on-the-job training, internships, and paid work experience. You will be supported in a network of your peers with the Greater Milwaukee National Association of Hispanic Nurses. Individuals recruited to MEND are provided with career information and a skills and interest assessments, to assist participants in their focus of career pathways and supportive services that will best fit their goals and needs.

No matter where you are in your healthcare career path, MEND can offer YOU support. MEND’s career pathway has multiple entry points, so whether you are just starting your healthcare career, or have a preexisting CNA, MA, LPN, or RN looking to take the next step in your career, you can get financial assistance. Individuals who have already begun a career in healthcare are eligible to upskill to allow for career advancement.

If you are a current nursing student looking for support, you must be attending either Marquette or UW Milwaukee in order to qualify for the program. Applications for MATC students are currently paused.

Recognized Postsecondary Credential(s) Offered: 

  • Bilingual Spanish-English CNA courses
  • Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Technical diploma
  • Associate degree in nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Eligibility:

  • Unemployed, underemployed, and incumbent workers
  • 17 years of age and older, not enrolled in high school
  • Resident of Milwaukee County
  • Eligible to work in the United States
