EARN & LEARN Summer Youth Employment Program

Every career starts with a first job. Workplace learning introduces youth to the world of work and helps them develop critical skills for success.

The EARN & LEARN Summer Youth Employment Program (EARN & LEARN) started in 2007 and is designed to provide meaningful work experiences and career exposure to young adults ages14-24 years old, residing in Milwaukee County and the City of Milwaukee. To date, Employ Milwaukee, in partnership with Mayor Cavalier Johnson of the City of Milwaukee and numerous community partners and stakeholders, has provided paid EARN & LEARN work experiences to over 40,000 young adults in the community.

The program seeks to provide:

  • Structured, well-organized work-based learning experiences
  • Role models that encourage youth to continue in or return to school
  • Career assessment, awareness, and exploration as part of the learning experience and
  • Opportunities that may lead to unsubsidized employment for youth making the transition from school.
