Kaleb McEachin was working hard in his Civil Engineering classes at MSOE. He prioritized his academic success while also trying to work as much as possible to get ahead in his career and pay for his education. A friend referred him to the Skills to Build program and he enrolled in February 2025. The program provided him with financial assistance for tuition, transportation, and other school expenses, and allowed him to focus on schoolwork and his internship with Gilbane Building Company.
“Since then, a load has been lifted off my shoulders,” Kaleb said. “With the help of Employ Milwaukee, I’ve been able to refocus my efforts to taking time for myself, being around the people that support me, and actually learning in classes instead of cramming for exams.”
Kaleb went on to recommend Skills to Build to friends who were also able to enroll in the program and benefit from its assistance.
“My Skills to Build contact, Brettney Spiller, has been extremely supportive since we first met and has consistently checked in on me during the school year and holidays,” Kaleb said. “It definitely feels good to know that I have a shoulder to lean on not only through Employ Milwaukee, but their amazing team as well.”
Kaleb is on track to graduate in May 2027.
“He’s very focused and determined and I know that he’s going to finish strong,” said Program Specialist Brettney Spiller.
